Trika

Trika Shaivism is a non-dual philosophical and spiritual tradition rooted in Kashmir and northern India. It forms the core doctrinal framework of Rudranaad Foundation's teachings and practice structure.

The term Trika refers to the "threefold" nature of reality—comprising Śiva (pure consciousness), Śakti (dynamic power), and the bound soul (jīva). Trika Shaivism emphasizes the direct recognition (pratyabhijñā) of one’s essential identity with Śiva, not through belief or ritual alone, but through disciplined self-awareness, inner refinement, and guided experiential knowledge.

Key elements of the tradition include:

  • Śāstra (Scripture): Core texts include the Śiva Sūtras, Spanda Kārikā, Pratyabhijñāhṛdayam, and related Agamas. These are studied under guidance and contextualized through lived practice.

  • Upāyas (Paths): The tradition outlines multiple methods of realization—from direct insight (śāmbhavopāya) to structured contemplative and energetic methods (śāktopāya, āṇavopāya).

  • Integration of Śiva and Śakti: Trika holds that ultimate reality is simultaneously static and dynamic. The path integrates both stillness and action, internal awareness and external engagement.

  • Guru–Shishya Paramparā: The transmission of Trika is traditionally preserved through direct oral instruction, qualified guidance, and successive lineage holders.

At Rudranaad Foundation, Trika Shaivism is not approached as abstract philosophy but as a lived discipline—combining daily practice, scriptural study, and inner observation.
